    Microbiome Analysis Services

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
    Core Facility
    McGill University

Our Microbiome Analysis services facilitate the study of complex microbial communities through various advanced methodologies:

    • Multiple Species Culturing, Isolation, and Identification
    • Cultivation and characterization of diverse microbial species from environmental or clinical samples.
    • Microbiome DNA Extractions
    • Efficient extraction of DNA from mixed microbial populations, preserving community structure.
    • 16S Survey Sequencing (Standard and Custom Primers)
    • Targeted sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene to profile bacterial diversity using both standard and customized primer sets.
    • Short-Read, High-Capacity Whole Genome Shotgun Sequencing (Illumina, BGI)
    • High-throughput sequencing to analyze microbial community composition and functional potential.
    • Long-Read Whole Genome Shotgun Sequencing and Multiple Genome Assembly (Oxford Nanopore, PacBio)
    • Long-read sequencing technologies for resolving complex genomes and assembling multiple genomes from mixed samples.
    • Gnotobiotic Mouse Animal Models
    • Utilization of germ-free or selectively colonized mouse models to study microbiome-host interactions.
    • Transcriptome Sequencing
    • Examination of microbial gene expression within communities to understand functional dynamics.
