    Walk-Test Hallway (35m)
    EquipmentAvailable

    Walk-Test Hallway (35m)

    Concordia University

Primary Function: A 35-meter hallway designated for walk tests and similar assessments in a controlled environment. This dedicated space is optimized for precise and repeatable human movement analysis, serving as a critical resource for research, clinical evaluation, and rehabilitation.

Location Context: Runs alongside the Imaging Suite and Athletic Therapy Clinic, ending next to the Cardio-Pulmonary Suite entrance at the south end.

    Applications:

    1. Gait analysis, including detailed biomechanical evaluation, stride analysis, and identification of movement abnormalities.
    2. Endurance testing, such as the 6-minute walk test (6MWT) and shuttle walk tests, to assess functional exercise capacity and prognosis in various populations.
    3. Rehabilitation assessments and monitoring for conditions like cardiopulmonary diseases, neurological disorders (e.g., Parkinson's, stroke), orthopedic issues, and post-surgical recovery.
    4. Physiological studies requiring a measured walking distance, including metabolic cost of locomotion and human performance optimization.
    5. Balance and coordination assessments, muscle strength, power, endurance, range of motion, and reaction time evaluations.
    6. Development and assessment of orthotics and assistive devices.
