Marcy 10” Gy-Roll Lab Cone Crusher

    Faculty of Engineering
    Mining & Materials Engineering
    McGill University

The Marcy 10” Gy-Roll Lab Cone Crusher, also associated with Kennedy Van Saun and Svedala, serves as a secondary crusher for the size reduction of medium to hard materials such as aggregate and mineral ores. It is particularly well-suited for pilot plant operations and small-scale production applications. The crusher features a 45-degree cone-shaped head with a detachable manganese steel-faced mantle that crushes material against a matching manganese steel concave plate. Particle size is precisely controlled by adjusting a threaded connection to the concave plate. This unit can handle material with a maximum diameter of ½ inch (1.25 cm) and produces a product of 1/16 inch (2 mm). Its throughput is approximately 150 kg per hour. The crushed product is ideal for subsequent processes such as feeding ball or rod mills, laboratory pulverizers, gravity concentration tests, sizing analysis, and sampling. Key features include an easy-to-clean feed hopper, a safety interlock that shuts off power when the hopper is lifted, and the capability for choke-feed and start/stop under load.
