The Jameson Cell is a high-intensity froth flotation unit renowned for its efficiency and compact design. Invented by Professor Graeme Jameson, this technology eliminates the need for mechanical agitators and external air compressors by utilizing static downcomers to generate ultra-fine bubbles directly within the pulp, ensuring maximum particle attachment. This design results in high throughput, a small footprint, and significantly lower maintenance requirements compared to conventional flotation cells, as it has no moving parts. It can be operated using a downcomer installed in a lab-scale column flotation cell for research purposes. The Jameson Cell is widely applied across various mineral processing operations, including the flotation of coal, base and precious metals, potash, bitumen, graphite, and for solvent extraction recovery processes. It is effective in rougher, scavenger, cleaner, and cleaner scavenger duties, and its high efficiency allows it to sometimes replace entire traditional flotation circuits.
