    Avanti J-HC Centrifuge

    Faculty of Arts and Science
    Biology
    Concordia University

Primary Function: The Beckman Coulter Avanti J-HC Centrifuge is a high-performance, high-capacity refrigerated floor centrifuge specifically engineered for efficient separation of biological samples and other mixtures based on density. It provides a complete solution for batch bioprocessing, offering high throughput and advanced features for demanding laboratory environments.

Key Capabilities: This centrifuge is designed to process large volumes, spinning up to 9 liters at once and achieving a processing rate of up to 36 liters per hour when harvesting bacteria. It features fastest acceleration and deceleration times due to its exclusive SR Drive technology, ensuring efficiency and gentle sample handling. Enhanced operator safety is provided through disposable HarvestLine System Liners, which also facilitate convenient sample recovery and long-term storage. The system includes advanced programmability, automatic rotor identification, and an imbalance safety check for reliable operation.

Applications: Ideal for a wide range of applications including cell harvesting, protein purification, nucleic acid isolation, and general sample preparation in molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology laboratories. Its high capacity makes it particularly suitable for large-volume batch bioprocessing, such as bacterial harvesting, and can also be used for clinical and blood sample preparation.
