    Morpheus (Zeiss Lightsheet for CLARITY)
    EquipmentAvailable

    Morpheus (Zeiss Lightsheet for CLARITY)

    Pricing

    $110 / hour

    UC Berkeley

    What researchers can do

Lightsheet microscope configured for cleared tissue, with dedicated CLARITY optics for samples at refractive index around 1.45 plus water optics. Six excitation lines from 405 to 642 nm and an offline Arivis workstation for rendering. Discounted overnight and weekend rate.

Installed in February 2015, Morpheus is the MIC's cleared-tissue lightsheet: a Zeiss lightsheet carrying optics for both water and cleared samples at refractive index around 1.45. For live, water-based work, Serenity is the better choice.

Configuration. Selective plane illumination with excitation at 405, 440, 488, 514, 561 and 642 nm, and IR-LED brightfield. Z-stacks and time lapse are supported. Cleared samples are handled with the 20x or 5x CLARITY objectives. Live imaging is possible, though Serenity is recommended for water-based live work. A paired offline workstation running Arivis handles rendering and analysis; it is listed separately as Morpheus Processing.

Objectives. 20x CLARITY, 20x water, and 5x CLARITY.

Software. Zen Black LS. Laser use authorization 4154.
