The Franz Magnetic Separator, Model L-1, is a laboratory-scale isodynamic magnetic separator designed for mineral research and development. It utilizes magnetic field intensity to separate particles based on their magnetic susceptibility, producing two distinct products: magnetic and non-magnetic fractions. This benchtop unit is suitable for dry high-intensity magnetic separation. It operates on 115 Volts, 2.5 AMPS, 50/60 Hz, and features a regulated power supply allowing for variable field strength from zero to approximately 15,500 to 16,000 gauss. The separator is self-contained with integrated power supply, switches, controls, and a circuit breaker. It is an essential tool for separating paramagnetic materials from non-magnetic ones, and can also be used for ferromagnetic separations by adjusting the electrical circuit. The unit has a working space of 0.246 inches (6.3 mm) in width by 1 inch (25.4 mm) in depth and 8.750 inches (222.3 mm) in length.
