    McGill University

The Zeiss LSM 900 is an inverted confocal laser scanning microscope equipped with the advanced Airyscan 2 detection array, enabling both confocal and super-resolution imaging. It offers high sensitivity and spectral flexibility, making it suitable for multicolor fluorescence and live-cell imaging. Key features include a widefield camera for fast overview generation, AI sample finder for automatic area identification, and improved tile scan functionality. The Airyscan 2 detector provides sub-diffraction limited imaging down to 120 nm (XY) and 350 nm (Z) resolution, with further enhancement to 90 nm (XY) and 270 nm (Z) using the Airyscan Joint Deconvolution module. It supports multiple laser lines (e.g., 405nm, 488nm, 561nm, 640nm) and is designed for gentle imaging of demanding samples, offering a 4-8 times higher signal-to-noise ratio. The system is ideal for 4D imaging and can be used with an attached incubation chamber for temperature, humidity, and CO2 control, making it well-suited for long-term live-cell experiments.
