    What researchers can do

A line from cryopreserved gametes, pups where mating is difficult, cohorts, or a new health status for an infected colony.

Rederivation, line recovery or IVF from live animals or frozen gametes (sperm or embryos) held at MICAM, at the GCI, or from an external source. Used to obtain a mouse line from cryopreserved gametes, pups for lines in which mating is difficult or no longer possible, cohorts for your experiments, or a new health status for an infected colony.

    What it takes

Embryos implantedAbout 40 when all share one genotype, about 60 for a mixture. For cohorts, every embryo from the IVF is implanted at once.
MalesAt least 2 live males aged 3 to 8 months and proven breeders, or 2 straws of frozen sperm
FemalesAt least 5 live females aged 4 to 5 weeks
    Wild-type strains at MICAMC57BL/6J, C57BL/6N, FVB and CD-1
Before you orderAn approved animal protocol naming the line. Contact us before arranging any shipping or placing any orders; for an external source we advise on the purchase and coordinate transport to the platform.

A super-ovulated female typically yields 10 to 20 embryos, and multiple IVF attempts may be required, so make sure that multiple males, females or frozen samples are available. When purchasing cryopreserved sperm, ask for the thawing protocol. The procedure is terminal; no sample can be sent back.
