The Bruker ImagePrep is an automated sample preparation device specifically designed for MALDI (Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization) imaging applications. It ensures comprehensive and reliable preparation of tissue sections for mass spectrometry imaging, crucial for obtaining high-quality spatial distribution data of molecules. This system utilizes a patented vibrational vaporization technology to generate a matrix aerosol, which is gently and reproducibly deposited onto tissue sections under controlled atmospheric conditions. It achieves an average droplet size of approximately 20 µm, with all droplet diameters less than 50 µm, ensuring homogeneity and high spatial resolution of 50 µm. The ImagePrep features patented sensor control for active real-time process control and ultimate reproducibility. Common applications include biomarker research, drug imaging, and pathology, enabling highly sensitive imaging of the spatial distribution of protein biomarkers and drug candidates in biological and clinical research. It is an integral part of a complete MALDI Molecular Imaging solution, which also includes MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and data analysis software. The ImagePrep offers both an AutoPrep mode for push-button operation with predefined methods for standard use cases and an Expert mode with full method development capabilities. Its compact size and easy-to-clean Teflon-coated spray chamber contribute to its user-friendliness and efficient laboratory integration.
