Human airway smooth muscle tissue samples are specimens specifically enriched for the smooth muscle component of the airway wall. This tissue is critical for studying the contractile properties of the airways and their role in regulating airflow. These samples are used to investigate the pathophysiology of airway hyperresponsiveness in diseases like asthma and COPD, as well as the mechanisms of airway remodeling. Researchers can analyze the cellular and molecular changes within the smooth muscle layer, including proliferation, hypertrophy, and the effects of pharmacological agents. Samples can be provided as sections from fixed tissue in paraffin blocks or OCT, or as snapfrosts of fresh tissues.
