Cryovials of Primary Human Bronchial Epithelial (HBE) Cells (1 Million Viable Cells)

Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
    Core Facility
    McGill University

These cryovials contain 1 million frozen, viable primary Human Bronchial Epithelial (HBE) cells. Primary HBE cells are considered the "gold standard" for in vitro studies of airway physiology, pathophysiology, cell biology, inflammation, and mucosal immunity, as they closely mimic the in vivo airway epithelium and retain genetic variation, unlike immortalized cell lines. They are essential for translational research aimed at developing new therapeutics for respiratory diseases. PACB guarantees these cells for differentiation, marked by cilia formation, mucin production, and transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) levels, making them suitable for air-liquid interface (ALI) studies. Each lot undergoes rigorous quality control, testing negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, fungi, HIV, and hepatitis A, B, and C. Detailed donor information, including sex, age, ethnicity, diagnosis, cause of death, other pathologies, and serology, is provided to users. For Cystic Fibrosis (CF) donors, additional details like smoker status, BMI, mutation, medication, antibiogram, CF-associated diabetes, and FEV1/FEV1% predicted are included.
