    Fragment Analyzer Infinity Electrophoresis System

    Faculty of Arts and Science
    Biology
    Concordia University

Primary Function: The Agilent Fragment Analyzer INFINITY is a high-throughput automated capillary electrophoresis system designed for fast, accurate sizing, quality, and quantity analysis of nucleic acids and proteins. It provides reliable assessment of DNA, RNA, and proteins with minimal sample preparation, making it a gold standard for quality control in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) library preparation and RNA analysis.

    Technical Specifications:

    1. Analyzes 12, 48, or 96 samples per run using parallel capillary electrophoresis.
    2. Capable of processing up to 288 samples unattended by holding up to three 96-well plates.
    3. Designed for seamless integration with robotic arms for truly continuous, unattended operation.
    4. Remotely controllable electrophoresis runs with integrated software for operation and analysis.
    5. Features proprietary PROSize® Data Analysis Software for auto-data processing.
    6. Compatible with a wide range of kits and assays (over 20 qualitative and quantitative kits) for DNA, RNA, and proteins.
    7. Offers high-resolution separation, achieving as low as 3 bp resolution for fragments under 300 bp.
    8. Provides fast run times, separating 12, 48, or 96 samples in approximately 1 hour.
    9. Wide dynamic range, covering two orders of magnitude for input concentrations.
    10. High sensitivity with detection limits as low as 5 pg/µL for DNA fragments and 50 pg/µL for smears.
    11. Low maintenance design with the capillary array stored within the instrument, eliminating daily handling.
    12. Can house two different gel matrices, allowing for unattended runs of different sample types.
    13. Controlled through a detailed API (Application Program Interface) for seamless integration with laboratory automation systems.
    14. Voltage: 100 to 240 VAC, 50Hz/60Hz.
    15. Dimensions (WxDxH): Approximately 36 x 51 x 61 cm (14 x 20 x 24 inches).
    16. Weight: Approximately 48.44 kg (106.8 lbs).

    Applications:

    1. Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) libraries quality control (QC)
    2. Genomic DNA analysis
    3. RNA integrity and quantification (including total RNA, mRNA, IVT mRNA, and small RNAs)
    4. PCR amplicon and plasmid analysis
    5. Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) analysis
    6. CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing event detection
    7. Reverse genetics analysis (TILLING)
    8. Microsatellite and SSR analysis
    9. Protein separation and characterization
