    Millipore Multiplex System

    Concordia University

Primary Function: A magnetic bead-based immunoassay instrument designed for rapid, accurate biomarker quantification using xMAP technology. This flow cytometry-based analyzer integrates advanced components to perform multiplexed assays, enabling simultaneous detection of multiple analytes from a single, small-volume sample.

Technical Capabilities: The Luminex 200 System is a robust and widely adopted platform for multiplexing, capable of performing up to 100 different tests in a single reaction volume. It offers high sensitivity and a broad dynamic range, making it suitable for a wide array of research and diagnostic applications.

Applications: Beyond general biomarker quantification, the system is extensively used for:

    1. Genomic and proteomics drug discovery, including single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and expression analysis.
    2. Diagnostic applications such as genetically inherited disease screening (e.g., cystic fibrosis), HLA typing for transplantation, autoimmune disease profiling, and molecular pathogen detection.
    3. Research assay applications including gene expression analysis, genotyping, protein expression analysis, animal-model serum analyte profiling, antibody epitope mapping, enzyme/substrate research, and protein-protein interaction analysis.
    4. High-throughput compound screening, kinase selectivity screening, serological studies, multianalyte drug and drug metabolite profiling, toxicology and drug metabolism studies, and drug target validation.
    5. Studies in immunology, cancer, veterinary medicine, metabolism/endocrinology, and neuroscience.
    6. Analysis of nucleic acid assays, receptor-ligand assays, immunoassays, and enzymatic assays.
