Primary Function: A Beckman Coulter Avanti J-20 I centrifuge designed for high-speed separation of biological samples, including cells, subcellular components, and macromolecules. It is particularly effective for pelleting bacteria and other solids, and for large-scale centrifugation applications.
Capabilities: The Avanti J-20 I is a high-performance refrigerated centrifuge engineered for demanding laboratory environments. It features a high-torque switch-reluctance (SR) Drive for reduced processing time and an innovative “Smart FRS” (Friction Reduction System) for larger volumes and greater separation forces. The unit also includes dynamic rotor inertia check for safety and proper rotor identification. The 'I' version specifically incorporates a digital interface and advanced capabilities such as SpinTrace® software compatibility, simultaneous viewing of set and actual run conditions, and the ability to create and store up to 30 two-step user programs, along with zonal rotor capability.
Applications: Commonly used in biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology for pelleting cells, purifying proteins, isolating nucleic acids, rapid sedimentation, separating blood components, and bacteriophage isolation.
