Infors HT Multitron Shaker Incubator (Middle Unit)

    Faculty of Arts and Science
    Biology
    Concordia University

The Infors HT Multitron Shaker Incubator is a highly versatile and robust laboratory instrument designed for high-throughput applications requiring precise environmental control. As a modular system, it can be configured as a single, double, or triple-stacked unit, with the 'Middle Unit' referring to its position within a multi-level setup, optimizing lab space. It ensures homogeneous conditions and delivers reproducible results for sensitive biological processes.

    Key Features:

    1. Advanced Temperature Control: Offers precise and consistent temperature regulation, typically ranging from 4°C to 80°C with integrated cooling, or 6°C above ambient to 65°C without, maintaining accuracy often within ±0.2°C to ±0.3°C.
    2. Adjustable Shaking Speed: Provides a wide, adjustable shaking speed range from 20 to 400 RPM, with some configurations supporting up to 1000 RPM for a 3mm orbital throw. Speed control accuracy is typically ±1 RPM or better.
    3. High Capacity: Designed for large-scale cultivation, each unit can accommodate up to 6 x 5L Erlenmeyer flasks, translating to approximately 21-200 liters per chamber, making it suitable for high-volume and parallel processing.
    4. Flexible Orbital Diameters: Common orbital diameters include 25 mm, with options for 3 mm, 50 mm, or adjustable throws (e.g., 12.5-50 mm) to suit diverse experimental needs.
    5. Modular and Stackable Design: Available as single, double, or triple-stacked units, allowing for efficient use of laboratory footprint while maximizing culture capacity.
    6. Intuitive User Interface: Equipped with a user-friendly touchscreen or microprocessor control, enabling easy programming and monitoring of all parameters.
    7. Optional Environmental Controls: Can be configured with optional features such as integrated cooling, CO2 control (ranging from 0-20%), humidity control (20-85% rH), HEPA filtration for continuous air purification (achieving Class 10/ISO 4 air quality), and LED illumination for phototrophic growth.
    8. Sustainable Operation: Engineered with sustainability in mind, featuring low energy consumption (e.g., 3.5 kWh/day), incorporating recycled materials in its construction, and complying with ISO 14001 and EU RoHS environmental standards.

    Applications:

The Infors HT Multitron is ideal for a broad spectrum of research and bioprocessing tasks, including:

    1. Cell culture (mammalian, insect, plant cells)
    2. Microbial growth and bioprocesses (bacteria, yeast, fungi)
    3. High-throughput screening
    4. Molecular biology (e.g., mini- and maxipreps)
    5. Fermentation
    6. Protein expression
    7. Media development
    8. Scale-up and process development
    9. Environmental testing and agri-research
    10. Enzyme studies
