LS1 is the most powerful laser available in Canada. With a peak power of 750 TW, the beam is focused on solid or gas targets at extreme intensity, and the laser-matter interaction produces secondary sources with unique properties: betatron X-rays, laser wakefield electrons and laser-driven ions. The 145 TW line drives laser wakefield acceleration and the betatron source.
Beamtime on LS1 is allocated through ALLS calls for proposals and LaserNetUS calls. The next ALLS call runs on LabGiant.
